Cabaret

Back in 1998, Alan Cumming starred in the Broadway revival of Cabaret. It changed the way Cabaret would be produced for decades to come. 4 years ago, Lisa and I set out to recreate this revival through photos. Our dream finally became a reality 2 months ago with the help of 8 incredible artists. Here is a look into our shoot. Enjoy.

Creep LA

September 25, 2016 in Halloween, Horror, Theater

Embrace the darkness. It wasn't clear exactly what that meant or what the night had in store for Lisa and I. So on Saturday September 10, 2016 Lisa and I arrived outside these two plain looking warehouses located not too far from Dodger Stadium in a very industrial part of town. We were invited to come and experience the first official dress rehearsal of Creep LA's 2016 incarnation by Justin Fix, the creator and producer of Creep LA. Justin is an incredibly friendly and genuine nice guy so my first impression was, how creepy can this be? Little did I know what the darkness had in store for us.

We were lined up outside of this plain looking warehouse door. The only sign I saw was the one seen in the photo above. This "shady looking" character made us all line up in rows of 8 outside the door. I was waiting for the door to open as were the rest of us, but instead, after about 10 minutes, we were led inside through a different door where we had to sign our life away as instructed by the pretty lady seen below. She was sexy and seductive and everyone obeyed her commands. Once we had signed she had us gather in a dark room where we took a group photos. We were then taken down a corridor and into the lounge.

We spent about 20-30 minutes in the lounge having drinks and interacting with various characters. They each took turns walking around, sitting at tables with guests, dancing, talking to themselves and sometimes just being plain creepy. All of the actors were spot on and very convincing. Just a tremendous job by all those involved. When it was time, our original group of 8 lined up again in the lounge and were taken outside in between the 2 warehouses. It was time to embrace the darkness and experience Entry. What followed was a 45-60 minute experience that left me craving more. There were anxious moments, creepy moments, tense situations but it was always fun. Never a dull moment. My least favorite part of the experience was the end when I knew it was over.

I will not go into any further detail as I do not want to spoil any of this experience for anyone. What I will say is that this was one of if not the greatest Halloween/Horror events I have ever attended. Justin has done such an amazing job with this show. The set designs, story, acting and atmosphere are all so well done. I highly recommend this event to everyone. This is not an extreme experience nor is it a walk through maze type of an attraction. It is somewhere in the middle. So please visit the website and get your tickets today. You will not be disappointed. www.creepla.com
